Robin Engen-Johnson, M.Ed, RCC

Robin is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with 25 years of experience working with youth, adults and families in a variety of settings. Robin is also a Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS), a designation from the Brain Injury Association of America, which allows her to specialize in persistent concussion symptoms.

Robin completed her Bachelor of Arts, Psychology from the University College of the Cariboo in 1998.


She went onto complete her Masters in Counselling Psychology from the University of Victoria in 2002.


She completed her Masters thesis on Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) - a Facilitator’s Experience.

EMDR certified (EMDRIA) 2024. EMDR is the most evidence based and recommended treatment for PTSD and for people who have experienced trauma or adverse events in their lives.

Completed a Certificate in Traumatic Stress (Trauma Research Foundation) in 2024

Robin has taken a multitude of professional development, including, providing training in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills, providing Critical Incident Stress Debriefing, neurobiology of addiction and brain injury and concussion.

​

Robin has worked extensively with Acquired Brain Injury as a neuro-rehab case coordinator managing complex brain injury, including concussion and stroke, mental health concerns and substance use.


She served as an instructor for the Community Brain Injury Certificate with Okanagan College.


She worked in Calgary extensively as a crisis counsellor with youth and families experiencing hardships.


She worked as an addictions counsellor with youth in a live in treatment program and served as Program Director. She loves working with youth and their families providing support, education and hope for those struggling with addiction.

Robin has many joys in life. When she is not working, she is usually outdoors hiking and walking
with her dog Sprite, swimming, and camping in the summer, her favourite time of year.
In the winter, snow shoeing and walking to keep active is a must, but hunkering down with a book and an excellent cup of coffee in front of the fireplace is a great day. She loves taking photos and can’t get enough of scrapbooking to preserve memories and loves sharing these with her family and friends.
Being outdoors in nature is her spiritual connection, and an important part of her self-care.
